SILICON TOUR 114
SILICON EMANCIPATION AND PANAFEST FESTIVAL JULY
26 - 3 AUGUST 2005 PROGRAMME AND RATES
Dear Valued Friends,
Silicon
Travel & Tours Limited, a renowned ground handling operator
for Ghana and the whole of West Africa hereby introduces Emancipation
Day Celebrations and Panafest 2005.
FORWARD ON EMANCIPATION DAY CELEBRATION
" A billion Africans must Rise" as we enter the 21st
Century. It is therefore for us to do what must be done in order
to achieve this objective.
The issue of reparation to Africa, re-uniting Africa, and formation
of spiritual and physical linkages with our own, are among the dynamically
appealing forces, imposing on Ghana the responsible to take the
lead in commemorating Emancipation Day on African soil.

The sons and daughters of Africa must gather for strength and restore
the broken walls, heal the deep cuts and wounds and knit the thorn
threads and broken images. The next millennium is for Africa, and
the commemoration of Emancipation Day is a starter for the great
task ahead, aiming at no other vision than restoring Africa and
its sons and daughters to their glorious status, as the originators
of world civilization.

Emancipation Day commemorates the abolition of Chattel Slavery in
the British colonies in 1834 and the Americans in 1865. The Slave
Trade, which involved the physical transfer of Africans to the New
World, took place over a period of 400 years, dating from the 16th
Century. During this period an estimated 300 million men and women
between ages 16 and 28 years were forcefully uprooted and transported
to destinations in the Americas.
The
atrocities visited on our kith and kin in the New World were even
worse. Dehumanized and traumatized, the enslaved generations of
people of African descent in the Diaspora as well as colonized Africans
on the Continent, have made relentless efforts to be lifted from
the doldrums of life.
We must forever pay tribute to our ancestors in acknowledgement
of their resilience, as through various rebellions they finally
attained their freedom and today the chains are no more. This freedom
must necessarily lead to "Positive Action".
The celebration of Emancipation Day in Africa is therefore a demonstration
of the
unity of purpose for truly emancipated Africans, for in unity lies
our economic and
Political strength and our claim to true independence.
SPECIAL INVITATION
Following his visit in 1997 to the Caribbean Islands as a Special
Guest of Honour for the annual Emancipation Day Celebrations, His
Excellency, Flt. Lt. J.J. Rawlings, the President of the Republic
of Ghana, was so overwhelmed both physically and spiritually, that
upon his return he instituted directives whereby Ghana should immediately
in solidarity with all people of Africa descent observe August 1st
of each year, to commemorate the abolition of chattel slavery which
indeed was the worst form of slavery visited on the Africa.
Consequently
a National Planning Committee was established under the auspices
of the Ministry of Tourism which led to the first commemoration
of this event in Ghana and for that matter the first on Africa soil,
from the 25th of July to the 2nd of August 1998. This event brought
onto the soil of Ghana, several hundreds of Diaspora Africans, to
witness the return of the remains of two enslaved Africans from
the United States of America and the Caribbean Island of Jamaica.
In a historical and royal durbar, the remains of Samuel Carson and
Crystal from the United States of America and Jamaica respectively
were re-interred in their homeland - Africa.
As this historic event is institutionalized, Ghana will observe
the 4th Annual African Funeral Rites of the two re-interred ancestors
as part of the Fourth Emancipation Day Celebrations from July 26th
to August 1st 2005. Accordingly we stand united in inviting all
sons and daughter of African descent in the Diaspora, to join their
kith and kin in Ghana to be part of this commemoration. We must
retrace our steps, return triumphantly to the Homeland, and break
forever the myth of "No Return".
Come and discover the Ancestral Home, the home of your kith and
kin and satisfy all those ancestral yearnings to deep to be expressed.
Welcome Home!
